Lower East Side boozing will get a needed dose of class next week when SakaMai soft-opens on Ludlow Street. The "Japanese gastro-lounge," as it's been dubbed, will specialize in sake, shochu, and those increasingly trendy Japanese whiskeys and beer. To take the edge off the Yamazaki, there'll be a brief, luxurious food menu offering the likes of uni with scrambled eggs and caviar, bone marrow, or Brussels sprouts dressed in miso and Stilton. Best of all, foodwise, we've heard a whisper that Tokyo ramen master Ivan Orkin - whose impending NYC noodle shop is beyond highly anticipated - might pop up on the premises.
